The thesis read
A number means little without the case it bears on. Each US stock has a standing investment case, and the thesis tools read new evidence against it.
The standing case
get_thesis returns the case for a stock: the thesis, the claims it rests on with the condition that would break each one, the bear case, the catalysts ahead, and whether the case still holds against the latest filings.
Effect on the case
get_thesis_impact reads one reported figure against the claim it tests and labels its effect, rather than treating every good-looking number as good news:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
supports | The figure strengthens a claim or eases a stated risk. |
challenges | The figure weakens a claim or makes a known risk likelier. |
mixed | It cuts both ways, and the two sides should not be netted into one. |
no_material_effect | It answers the question but does not move the case. |
Each read also says what the figure cannot prove.
What changed since a date
what_changed gathers what happened after a date you choose (the latest quarter, 8-K events, insider trades, capital returns, the price move) and reads each against the case. Without a date it covers the last 30 days.
The track record
get_track_record lists each time a filing crossed, or held, a thesis's break condition. A crossing counts as a call only when the thesis was written before the filing, so the record cannot be fitted after the fact.
