Models choose a tool from its description. This is the one the server publishes:
Resolve a ticker, company name or CIK to the canonical company (name, ticker, CIK, FIGI), confirming which company a name means before other tools run. Use when the user asks: which company is X; what's the ticker for X; is X listed. Args: query.
- which company is X
- what's the ticker for X
- is X listed
Parameters
querystringrequired
A company name, ticker or SEC CIK to identify; returns its name, ticker, CIK and FIGI.
Response
A real response to the example call, trimmed: lists cut to two items, long text cut short. The result's content holds the answer as JSON text; parsed, it reads:
{
"figi": "BBG00741Y1N2",
"cik": "0001874178",
"ticker": "RIVN",
"name": "Rivian Automotive, Inc."
}Fields are explained in Reading a response.
Errors
A call the server cannot run (a missing or invalid argument) comes back with
isError: true and the reason in words. A company or market the server cannot match comes back as a result naming what was not found. See Errors and limits.
